Frequently Asked Questions

New to therapy or just new to us? Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from people taking their first step.

  • How do I know which service is right for me?

If you're unsure, start with our free 15-minute phone consultation. A clinician will listen to what's going on, answer your questions, and help match you to the right service and therapist.
  • How long are sessions, and how often do I need to come?

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly sessions and move to bi-weekly as they progress. Your therapist will work with you to find a schedule that fits your life and your goals.
  • What happens during the first appointment?

Your first session is an intake — a structured conversation where your therapist gathers background, listens to your concerns, and begins to understand your goals. There's no pressure to share anything you're not ready for. By the end, you'll have a clearer picture of next steps together.
  • Is everything I say kept confidential?

Yes. All sessions are governed by strict confidentiality laws. The only exceptions are narrow legal requirements — if there is credible risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of mandated reporting for child or elder abuse. Your therapist will explain these limits clearly in your first session.
  • Do you offer telehealth sessions?

Yes — all of our services are available virtually via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. See the Telehealth section above for details on how it works.
  • What if I can't afford the standard session rate?

We offer a sliding scale fee structure based on household income. We also accept several major insurance plans. Contact us to discuss your options — we'll always try to find a path that works for you.
  • How long does therapy typically last?

It depends on your goals. Some clients reach their goals in 8–12 sessions; others benefit from ongoing support over months or years. We check in regularly to make sure the work is moving in the right direction for you.

Thank you! We'll be in touch shortly to confirm your consultation.
